Harshad Patankar: About
I have always been fascinated by the word "creativity". To me creative doesn't mean MAKING something new. Why re-invent the wheel when there are a million unexplored possibilities to the existing wheel? These subtle nuances that can change an ordinary object into something that grips the imagination have been the motivating factors of my work.
I took up mechanical engineering because I was very interested in how things work. But few months into it was enough for me to realize that I could never be satisfied with a 9 to 6 job. When class bored me I roamed the bazaars of Bombay always on the look out for the unusual. Soon the desire to combine the practical and the creative side in me became so strong that I designed my first wooden watch. It was an instant hit within my friends' circle. This fuelled an ambition to carve a niche for myself in the art world.
By the time I graduated I had enough orders to be self-sustained, and start a range of products under the banner of Little Bent.In the 5 years that have gone by I have experimented with materials like wood, glass, fibre, sandstone, brass and copper to name a few.
Adithi Patankar , my wife, who is an architect and photographer has joined the team.Together we plan to introduce add bags, jewellery, furniture, and interior design to our existing range of products.
